As part of its 2025 season, the Petit Palais welcomes Bilal Hamdad, a painter whose works explore urban solitude through Parisian scenes.
A graduate of the Beaux-Arts de Sidi Bel Abbes in 2010 and the Beaux-Arts de Paris in 2018, he is known for his large-scale oil paintings, often inspired by live photographs. His paintings feature solitary, anonymous figures, creating a striking contrast with the hustle and bustle of the city.
The exhibition at the Petit Palais brings together some twenty of his works, including two new ones created for the occasion, and establishes a dialogue with the museum's permanent collections.
For example, his painting Miroir des Astres (2024) borrows from Baroque aesthetics, while Sérénité d'une ombre (2024) echoes Manet's still life.
An exhibition organised with the support of Galerie Templon.
